About George

George Hepburn OBE built the most successful community foundation in the United Kingdom and was a leader of the community movement for over 20 years, sought after as consultant at home and abroad.

In the last four years, George has revived the fortunes of Shepherds Dene, built a strong team and put a sacred place on its feet again.

He has wide experience as Chair and Board member, most recently chairing Seven Stories: National Centre for Childrens Books and is an experienced grantmaker, locally and nationally.

George writes a fortnightly column in the Newcastle Journal on social and political issues and whatever takes his fancy.
